Fake banking apps slipping past Play Protect
Lookalike GTBank, Standard Bank and Equity apps appear in Google Play with thousands of installs before takedown.

Warning signs
- Developer name slightly off (e.g., “GT Bank PLC.” vs “Guaranty Trust”)
- Recent install dates with suspiciously few reviews
- Permissions: SMS read, accessibility, draw-over-other-apps

- 1Install banking apps only through links on the bank’s official website.
- 2Disable “Install unknown apps” for non-essential browsers.
- 3Run Antivirus.com Android scanner monthly for stalkerware and fakebanks.
